Snow Days

During the week we experience a blizzard. We weren't allowed to leave the club house. So we wrote letters to soldiers and children in hospitals. We also cleaned the club house.

New York Food Bank

During one of the days I was able to work at the food bank in New York City. This food bank was located in the Bronx.
We helped package dry foods.

Boys and Girls Club

We stayed in the Newark, New Jersey Boys and Girls Club Clubhouse. The club house had many rooms for the children. They had classrooms, a pool, a game room, a lounge room, a stem room, a gym, and a cafeteria. We slept in the gym. We would set up cots and then take them down in the morning before the kids would arrive.

At the beginning we were split up into different groups. There were several different schools participating in the Break -A-Difference program. I was put into team Elephant.

Most of the children we worked with didn't live in a stable home. Most only had 1 parent in their lives, some didn't have food consistently in their home. Working with these students opened my view to some of the hardships these children go through everyday.
